Palm Beach County voters approve $455 million in parks and library bonds

Palm Beach County voters approved all three local questions on the Nov. 3 ballot, according to unofficial results from the Supervisor of Elections. The parks bond passed with about 66 percent of the vote, allowing the county to borrow up to $280 million for parks, sports complexes, beach access, trails and botanical gardens. The Library District bond passed with about 64 percent, allowing up to $175 million to build, expand and renovate libraries, including a new Main Library. Voters also renewed the school district’s existing 1-mill property tax, with about 77 percent in favor, for four more years starting July 1, 2027. The two bonds would be repaid through property taxes over up to 20 years, at an estimated $5 to $6 per $100,000 of taxable value, with taxes not appearing before fiscal year 2030. All figures are unofficial until the county canvassing board certifies them, and specific project lists and timelines have not been set.
